Wonderul expierience. Now, on one hand, if you are looking for a place to watch netflix all day and have a leisurely technological experience of the 21st century, then sadly this is not the place for you. Now on the other hand if you are a person who likes a somewhat silent and nature like setting, for those who prefer not having reception,but rather a peace of mind from the outside world, for those who want a local Latvian celebration or something less local, like a wedding or birthday party away from the noise of the cities, this place is for you. The place feels like a whole different world, stork nests all around, nature at the end of your doorstep, yet the grounds are well kept, archery, rope rides, a Latvian sauna, a hot tub, local tips on Latvian culture, as well as participation in the local Latvian traditions.I write this review, with hopes I might interest those who are new to Latvia and Its ways, but still want to learn and at the same time relax while learning. This is a great place. The ground keepers are a sweet Latvian , Lithuanian couple, who operate the whole complex together and are keen to provide cultural information as well as good serivce for those who seek it.One reccomendation I will give is... try to book the guest house during the summer, pref. the day of the Latvian summer solstice celebration or 23rd of June.Regarding catering, if in case you are booking for a wedding, they have partnership's with catering companies with local cuisine, tho if you are not feeling it, your own catering is always an option too.Thank you Kaplūžmuiža ( hope i spelled that right) for being such great hosts and special thanks to Arnolds ( the male grounds keeper ) for his educational coversations and great service, hope to see you again next year, thanks!
